Project Overview
True luxury is in the details. In this recent installation, we utilised extra-large porcelain slabs to create a seamless flow across multiple levels and rooms. The project encompassed designer bathrooms, an open-plan living and dining area, a bespoke steam room suite, and an innovative 'invisible' handrail — all executed with meticulous precision to deliver a cohesive, high-end finish throughout.
The Challenge
This project demanded a unified design language across five distinct zones — each with different environmental requirements and structural constraints. The steam room required specialist vapour-barrier waterproofing capable of withstanding sustained high-humidity conditions, while the staircase handrail called for an innovative miter-cut, recessed approach integrated directly into the porcelain wall panels. Achieving perfectly aligned grain patterns across mitered corners and multi-level transitions required exceptional planning and execution.
The Process
Living & Dining Areas
Extra-large format porcelain floor tiles were laid across the open-plan living and dining space, creating a seamless, continuous surface. The tiles were precision-cut to achieve minimal grout lines and a clean, expansive aesthetic that flows naturally between zones.
The 'Invisible' Handrail
A miter-cut, recessed handrail was built directly into the porcelain-clad staircase wall — a true feat of precision engineering. The handrail provides a clean, minimalist look with integrated accent lighting, while the surrounding large-format wall panels create an unbroken stone surface.
Designer Bathrooms
Two distinct bathroom suites were delivered: a principal bathroom featuring stunning pink onyx-effect porcelain with gold fixtures, a floating vanity, and geometric shower enclosures with recessed niches; and a secondary bathroom with a freestanding tub set against large-format onyx-effect wall panels, brass towel rails, and a textured mosaic shower feature wall.
Steam Room Suite
Floor-to-ceiling porcelain cladding was installed throughout the steam room, including custom-mitered heated benches and perfectly aligned grain patterns. The dramatic dark stone porcelain, paired with recessed storage niches and a rain shower system with chromotherapy lighting, creates a truly immersive spa experience.
The Result
A masterclass in integrated luxury design. Every room tells part of the same design story — from the sweeping porcelain floors of the living area, through the ingenious recessed handrail, to the dramatic stone-clad steam room and the exquisite designer bathrooms. The combination of large-format porcelain, innovative construction techniques, and flawless attention to detail delivers the beauty of natural stone without the maintenance, ensuring this home will look as stunning in decades as it does today.
