Private Residence, Queensway
A series of luxury bathrooms clad in natural Limestone, built on a full Schlüter-Kerdi Board waterproofing system — technical excellence meets minimalist design in West London.
Project Overview
This project in Queensway, West London, showcases VTMV's commitment to technical excellence in high-end residential wet room construction. Working with natural Limestone, we delivered a series of bathrooms that prioritise minimalist aesthetics without compromising on structural integrity.
The Challenge
Natural limestone demands an impeccable substrate. Unlike porcelain, stone is porous and unforgiving — any moisture ingress behind the panels can cause irreversible staining, warping, or delamination over time. Every slab had to be individually templated to ensure seamless grain matching and perfectly aligned joins around the inset bathtub and alcoves, while the entire wet zone required 100% professional-grade tanking to protect the structure beneath.
The Process
Precision Surveying & Templating
Every limestone slab was individually templated on-site. Grain direction, vein matching, and cut lines were mapped to ensure a seamless, monolithic appearance across the bath surrounds, wall surfaces, and alcoves — as though the entire room were carved from a single block of stone.
Schlüter-Kerdi Board Waterproofing
A full Schlüter-Kerdi Board system was installed across all wet areas. This professional-grade tanking creates a 100% moisture-proof substrate, providing a stable, long-lasting foundation for heavy natural stone. All joints were sealed with Kerdi-Band and waterproof sealant to guarantee zero moisture penetration.
Limestone Installation
Large-format natural limestone panels were expertly fitted to create a 'carved from one piece' look for the bath surrounds and wall surfaces. Precision-cut mitred edges eliminated visible tile edges, while the same limestone was used for walls, flooring, and the integrated bath deck to achieve a clean, continuous flow.
Design & Finishing
Minimalist fixtures were integrated seamlessly into the stone surfaces — wall-mounted taps, recessed niches, and floating vanities. The choice of warm-toned limestone creates a soft, architectural feel that maximises the sense of space while hiding the complex engineering beneath a flawless surface.
The Result
A serene, spa-like environment that hides its complex engineering beneath a flawless stone surface. The continuous limestone flow across walls, floors, and bath decks creates a monolithic, sculptural quality. Paired with matte black fixtures, floating timber vanities, and soft ambient lighting, these bathrooms deliver the timeless elegance of natural stone backed by the technical rigour of a modern waterproofing system built to last decades.
